On The Move

After much deliberation, consternation and hibernation, I have decided to migrate my blog, Time To Write, to Substack, an online platform for writers. If you're like me and have no idea what that is, fear not! I will make the transition as seamless as possible. You needn't do a thing; leave all the heavy lifting to me.

Why Move?

I've been waffling with the idea of expanding my reading audience. My fear of being seen has been in a near constant debate with my fear of not being seen. Turns out, at this moment in time, my desire to be seen has a not insubstantial lead on the fear. So, striking while the iron is hot and all that.

It's All Because of You

Thanks to everyone who reads my blog, who offers encouraging feedback, and moments of beautiful connection where you, too, feel seen, I am feeling the courage to put it out there even further. 2023 is my year of expansion and exhalation. It feels right to take up more space in the creative world.

Is More Better?

This is a tricky question. With every fibre of my being, I strive for quality over quantity. I prefer true connection, real conversation, considered thoughtfulness. Reaching just one person with my writing is ridiculously gratifying. So, do I need hundreds or thousands of readers? No, I don't. But I also know the feeling of reading someone's work and connecting to it, feeling like when they wrote, they were inside my head and heart and knew exactly what I was thinking or feeling or pondering. Moments like that remind me of my humanness.

What Will Change?

I will still be posting my blog, as usual, on Saturday mornings. It will come to you via email as it does now. As always, you have the option to unsubscribe. What's different is readers have an opportunity to comment, share, recommend etc. the posts you receive. Plus, you will now have connection to all the other creatives in the Substack community should you like to explore. Engagement, I believe it's called.

We'll See How It Goes

I do feel like the woman in the photo walking a tightrope between fear and acceptance. As you know, I deplore social media and Substack seems tangentially aligned with that which feels kind of icky. But, these days, you can't do anything without a Like button. On the other hand, some times you have to play the system in order to get what you want so here's me doing that.

I fervently hope you will find this a delightful change from the norm. Next Saturday, look for my post from Substack in your email. Let me know what you think. Or, if you're feeling excited already, you can go explore my page here now.

Wish me luck! And thank you for coming along.
